The Xerox Fuser Plays a Crucial Role in Creating Professional Documents

This toner, after it is applied to the paper, must be bonded to the paper so that it adheres.  This is where the Xerox fuser comes in; it uses heat and pressure to make sure the toner sticks well to the printed page.

Most people have no idea how printers actually work, they just know that they need professional looking documents, diagrams and images in their business.  With Laser Printers that are so frequently used in today's business world, it's good to know a little about how they work.  This makes for easier diagnosing of problems when something goes wrong.  Put simply, the Xerox fuser is the final stage of the printing process - the page passes through this fuser after going through the initial steps of printing, where toner is arranged on the paper.

What does a Xerox fuser consist of?  Generally, a Fuser Assembly is made of fuser rollers, a Pressure Roller and a powerful heat lamp; it usually includes a cleaning pad which is meant to clear extra or excess toner from the fuser rollers.  During the printing process, the heat lamp is directed at the paper as it passes quickly through the fuser rollers.  The paper is normally heated to a temperature of 300 degrees or above, as amazing as it sounds.  The pressure roller presses down on fuser rollers to assist in setting the print on the page so that it doesn't smear.

The main benefit of a Xerox fuser is its ability to melt the toner and seal it permanently to the page, which creates long lasting documents and prevents smearing of the toner.  Fuser parts generally print an average of 150,000 pages before needing maintenance or replacement.  It is recommended that you replace your Xerox fuser with the same model when the time comes, to extend the life of your printer and ensure that your documents always appear crisp and professional in appearance.
